KATIE CAPPIELLO & MEG MCINERNEY (The Directors) are graduates of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where they studied a combination of Theater (at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute), Women’s Studies, and Applied Theater. Katie and Meg are the founders/ directors of The Arts Effect NYC. In their 10 years of teaching, they have brought theater arts programming to over 15 public/private schools in NYC. Before founding The Arts Effect, Katie worked as the head acting teacher at The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute’s Young Actors Program, created and acted as Artistic Director of the I Can Act! Arts Outreach Program that brought free arts programming to underfunded elementary schools, and launched a career as an acting coach training kids across the country. Meg worked as the Artistic Director at The Hudson Guild Community Center where she created and developed an after-school and summer theater arts program for hundreds of NYC kids. Meg also acted as the Creative and Development Director for Opening Act, a non-profit organization that brings theater programming to under served high schools throughout the city. To date, their work with young girls has been Katie and Meg’s greatest passion. Their revolutionary artistic approach has been revered by many throughout NYC and beyond, including: Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton, Eve Ensler, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Amy Richards, and Jennifer Baumgardner. In Fall 2009, Katie and Meg developed Operation: Girl Power! with the goal of bringing their girl-focused, girl-supporting creative arts workshops/events to elementary and middle school girls. Currently, Operation: Girl Power! is serving 500 girls in NYC private, public, and special ed. schools.

Jeremi Chenier (Graphic Designer) has been on The Arts Effect team since the begining as their all-things-visual designer. Beside creating all logos, websites, brochures and flyers for The Arts Effect, Jeremi has worked for several music producers, clothing brands and magazines. He is currently employed at a tecky agency in downtown Brooklyn that specializes in mobile apps, computer softwares and web interface called ByteDepartment. Visit his portfolio at jeremitotal.com.

Gemma Kaneko is a Brooklynite director, designer, and writer. Along with Grant McDonald, she runs a theatre company called Rescue Agreement. You can visit their website at www.RescueAgreement.com. Gemma also writes books and food on the internet sometimes.

 

Grant McDonald (Media Designer) is the Artistic Director of the Rescue Agreement Theatre Company and has designed over 30 original productions since moving to New York in 2007. He has collaborated with Big Art Group, Punchdrunk, Big Dance Theatre, The Talking Band, Witness Relocation, Inertia, Powerhouse Theatre, The Arts Effect, Untitled Theatre Company #61, and The PossEble Theatre Company, as well as lit and media designed dozens of concerts and events at Santos Party House, the greater New York area, and across the United States. He holds a BFA in Theatre and a Minor in Law & Society from New York University. He's happy to be back at The Arts Effect for this amazing premier.

Danielle O'Dea is a recent graduate from New York University, with a BFA in drama from the Experimental Theatre Wing. Danielle is an actor, director, playwright, and scenic carpenter, and was most recently seen in the new musical Hitgirls at Manhattan Theatre Source. She is very excited to be stage managing her first Fringe show, and to be working with such an exciting company as the The Arts Effect!

 

Phillip Rudy (Sound Design) studied Theatre Arts at Baylor University. OFF BWAY:The Deep Throat Sex Scandal, Together This Time (Lortel Theatre) and Terms of Dismemberment with three time Tony Award winner Hinton Battle (Lortel Theatre). OFF OFF BWAY: TROUBLE (June Havock Theatre) Narrator 1 (Theatre Row), FringeNYC, MITF. REGIONAL: Timber Lake Playhouse, and Capital Repertory Theatre. He also sound designs for CUNY and has worked with national acts The Killers, The Village People, and aboard The Navigator of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International). Upcoming Design: Parker and Dizzy’s Fabulous Adventure to the End of the Rainbow, Zombie Wedding (Ellen Stewart Theatre), Seed of Abraham (45 Bleeker). Thanks to his parents for their support and always helping him to land on his feet. He is a proud member of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees and Actors' Equity Association.
