The facebook me cast is comprised of company members, old and new, from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Long Island. All cast members and creators are impassioned 13-15 years-old middle school and high school girls for whom theater is a much-loved, culturally necessary art form.
WINNIFRED BONJEAN-ALPART, Nicky, is 14 years old. She is a freshman at Packer Collegiate Institute. Winnifred is an avid writer and gymnast. Winnie started acting at age 7 and has been a member of The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company for 4 years. She appeared in The Arts Effect’s award-winning play KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. She also starred in the film The Murmur of Bees and as Puck in a recent production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. Her heroes include her parents, Alice Paul, Eve Ensler, Lois Lowry, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. When Winnie logs out she enjoys cooking, photography and reading.
ALEXA CABAN, Ali,is 14 years old and is a freshman at The Chapin School, an all-girl private school in NYC where her favorite subjects are English and Science. This is Alexa’s first year with The Arts Effect. Some of her recent acting roles include an education video about bullying. In her unplugged time, Alexa enjoys reading sifi/adventure books, writing, and spending time with her sisters. Alexa’s role model is Lucille Ball because of her unique comedic acting style and because she was a feminist role model for female actors of the time period.
DANIELLE COHEN, Company member & creator, is 14 years old and a freshman at LaGuardia High School in NYC. Danielle started acting at the age of five, at the YMCA program, then onto The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company--which she has been a part of for 4 years. Danielle was a member of the KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN ensemble and recently starred as Demetrius in a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Danielle’s heroes include Katie and Meg, Richard Edson, and her parents for inspiring her to have her own voice and for letting her pursue what she loves. In her time offline, Danielle loves to act, write, read, travel and dance.
RACHEL COVEY, Company member & creator,is 13 years old and an 8th grader at The Dalton School in NYC. She has been acting since she was 4. She starred in the film Enchanted, several commercials, a summer-stock production of Annie, and soon-to-be play Give Me Up. When she signs out, Rachel loves to sing and draw. She hopes to pursue a long, happy career.
VIKKI EUGENIS, Izzy, is a 14-year-old freshman at the Professional Performing Arts School. She was a member of the award-winning ensemble of KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN. Recently, she starred in Wolves at 59E59 theaters, Much Ado About Nothing at PPAS, and in a production of I Am an Emotional Creature directed by Eve Ensler and Rosario Dawson, who are two of her heroes. Vikki can be seen in various commercials and films. Her goal in life is to make the world a better place through her acting and help stop teen suicide. Vikki is inspired by her mom, her family and friends, Zooey Deschanel, Katie Cappiello, and Meg McInerney. In her logged off time, she loves photography, acting, singing, dancing, reading, and writing.
SOPHIE HEARN, Liv, is 14 years old and a freshman at Germantown Academy in Pennsylvania. Her recent credits include: The Narrator in “Joseph…”, Patrice in “13”, and Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz”. Sophie also had the privilege of performing several times this past year with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. When she’s not performing on the theatrical stage, Sophie enjoys all styles of dance with her local dance company, IDA, also in Philly. Sophie currently studies in NYC with Katie Cappiello, Diane Hardin and Bob Marks, to name a few, and also spends summers training at Stagedoor Manor. Sophie very much admires Sutton Foster, Meryl Streep, Carrie Mulligan, her parents and sister! When Sophie powers down, she plays softball, field hockey and loves to play the piano and perform for anyone willing to listen.
KENDRA JAIN, Jessie, is 15 years old and a sophomore at Kent Place School In New Jersey.
Kendra is beyond passionate about acting. On stage, Kendra played Jeanie Morreli in the reading of the Broadway-Bound play A Room of My Own and was a featured dancer and singer in "Johnny Mercer: A Tribute" at Carnegie Hall. On screen, Kendra has starred in El Tio Sam, Finding Graceland, and Lifetime Movie Network’s Lies in Plain Sight. She also starred in the ABC pilot Funny in Farsi. This winter Kendra will be featured in Garry Marshall's upcoming film "New Year's Eve" along side Abigail Breslin and Sarah Jessica Parker. Kendra admires the work of David Mamet, Bette Davis, Patti LuPone, Bebe Neuwirth, Stephen Sondheim, and Bob Fosse. Kendra has been training with Katie Cappiello for two year and this is her first project with The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company. To power down Kendra enjoys reading, writing, and spending quality time with her 92-year-old Grandma.
JULIA MCDERMOTT, Company member & creator, is 14 years old and a freshman at LaGuardia in NYC. Julia has been a member of The Arts Effect for 4 years. Her favorite acting gigs include performing in KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN as part of the New York City International Fringe Festival. One of Julia’s goals are to help ensure that some day every woman and girl has the right to an education, and that the awareness of women’s issues is raised in all schools. Julia’s heroes are Martin Luther King Jr, Celia Rose T. Fitzgerald, and every woman who fights for what she believes in. In her unplugged time, Julia loves to sing, read, write, and spend time with friends.
FIONA MCSWEENEY-GLYNN, Penny, is 14 years old and a freshman at Bard in NYC. Fiona has been a member of The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company since 2010. Some of her favorite acting roles include Tiresias in “Antigone,” Blanche in “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and part of the children’s ensemble in “Evergreen.” On the musical side, Fiona is a Soprano in training, plays electric guitar, and will be joining the world renowned Brooklyn Youth Chorus in the Fall of 2011. When she signs out, she loves to read and obsess over Manga and Harry Potter.
ELIZA PRICE, Stella, is 13 and lives in Brooklyn, NY where she is an 8th grader at Saint Ann’s School. To Kill A Mockingbird and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn are among her favorite books. Eliza loves to act and has been performing in school and camp plays, such as The Little Prince, East of the Sun West of the Moon, and Jason and The Golden Fleece, since kindergarten. This is her first year with The Arts Effect. Eleanor Roosevelt, Tina Fey, and Michelle Obama are just a few of the strong and outspoken women who inspire Eliza. She would rather hang out with friends and family in person than stay connected through technology. When she’s offline, Eliza loves to read, write, swim, rock climb, ride her bike, and visit new places.
NAILA PEREZ-STRINGARI, Lauren, is a 13-year-old from Washington Heights and a freshman at Miss Porter’s School, where she received a trustee scholarship for fine arts. Naila has been a member of The Arts Effect All-girl Company for 2 years. She is proud to be a collaborator in the process of facebook me. Naila has been training in ballet, drama and various other art activities since she was 4 years old. She studied at Lee Strassberg, TVI, French Woods Camp, Lucy Moses School and Alvin Ailey. She has played feature roles in Oliver, Smile, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Music Man. When she is not on Facebook or surfing the net, you can find her hanging out with her friends, playing volleyball and basketball, singing, traveling, drawing or painting. She considers Katie and Meg to be her amazing mentors, along with her mom and two sisters.
DANIELLE STEFANIA, Sarah, a 14-year-old from Long Island and a freshman at St. Anthony's in Huntington. Danielle has been acting for years and has trained with Diane Hardin and The Arts Effect. This is her first project with The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company. Her favorite actor and person she truly looks up to, is Audrey Hepburn; not just for her acting, but also for her commitment to children and animals. Danielle also admires the creativity of Walt Disney. When Danielle signs out she loves to hang out with her family and friends, read, listen to music, sing, play the guitar, swim, figure skate, play lacross, and bake (she makes the best s'more bars!).
INDIA WITKIN, Ava, is 15 years old and a sophomore at LaGuardia in NYC. India has training with The Arts Effect for 2 years and was a member of The All-Girl Company during the creation of facebook me. India’s favorite roles include Jessica in This Is Our Youth and Gladys in The Pajama Game. India’s heroes include actor Meryl Streep, author Laurie Halse Anderson, and her parents. In her unplugged time, India loves to read, WRITE, explore photography, and travel.
